Homosexuality and the Bible

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

Does it matter what a church synod says about an issue? Does it matter what man’s desires are? What do the Scriptures say about fleshly lusts? Look at these versus on this issue and decide for yourself.

Genesis 2:24: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

Romans 1:27: “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”

1 Corinthians 6:9 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind…”

John 14:15: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

These are just a few verses that relate to this issue. Homosexuality is obviously a sin. We can overcome sin by making a choice to do right.

1 Cor. 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

This same article from USA Today also states, “The president of the United Church of Christ said his denomination "acted courageously to declare freedom" when it passed a resolution endorsing same-sex marriage on Independence Day.” Let’s look at the gospel of Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I find it so unbelievable that people are willing to accept a false doctrine, declare it okay in Christ’s name and yet it be completely opposite of God’s teachings. The scriptures are very clear about this lifestyle and the like. We must resist temptation and do the will of God.

Romans 1:27 and others make reference to the unnatural practice of homosexuality and the fact that it goes against what God intends for man and women to share in the holy institution of marriage. Those who seek to expand the practice of sinful lifestyles (seek it in the darkness) avoid any who resists them, any who show them the error of their perverted ways and they sometimes become violent in their rebellion. Those who have no morals are still seeking to humiliate and embarrass any who oppose them. They do not want to be told what they are doing is wrong. They do not want anyone telling those they do it with it is wrong. They close their’s and other’s eyes to the truth. They live in darkness. As with any people who sin there is a bitter harvest and theirs will not be the harvest of life. I have heard it said, “Love the sinner and hate the sin.” and I see a need to add, “Give no foot hold, crack or crevice for the enemy. Tolerance of sin is sin” It is true it is very popular and Politically Correct to tolerate the perversions of adulatory, fornication, homosexuality and bisexuality. What would Jesus say and do? He wants his children to be safe and healthy. Do not encourage those practices that do not support the propagation of healthy life. Some have been teaching others to do what is against nature, Those will not continue in those sinful practices, “who died that you may have your sins washed away? His salvation and blessings are conditional, turn your back on sin and practice it no more in thought or deed. Die to sin die to self and live for Christ, be washed in his precious blood, take up your cross and follow him and leave the lifestyle of death behind you and practice it no more.”

Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right. Satan has a way of using every possible angle to get us to slowly tolerate this and other sinful lifestyles. People are no longer embarrassed or ashamed of having illegitimate children, parents tolerate and promote drinking, dancing, and immodest dress for their children, and we see a slow decline in morals and a stand for what is right.

I am aware that the embarrassment or shame of having illegitimate children has lead some to abortion clinics. The real embarrassment or shame should be on those who will not provide for their own family.

Any parents who promote drinking, dancing and immodest dress for their children are promoting a decline in morals and there is a need to take a stand and set the example.

Before and as children are becoming adults we share with them what we have learned. They will make mistakes and have problems but by communicating and setting a good example we can lessen the effects of those mistakes and shield them from the noise and confusion of the world.

Until they, with their brothers and sisters in Christ, can and will, eventually, overwhelm the world with goodness by consistently living righteously and forcefully in Christ.

When I was growing up and dating there was three unwritten rules I wrote in my mind. 1) Never go out with a selfish women or one who would let someone embarrass or shame her into killing an innocent child in a womb. 2) Never kiss a woman unless you are sure she isn’t kissing someone else (if you have ever had mono you understand the importance of this rule) (Yes, I have had mono, it lasted six months and I was very ill.) 3)Never kiss for more then three seconds unless you are prepared to make a commitment that could last a lifetime. (Rule number three should never be needed until there has been lengthily communications and soul searching over a period of time. By the time rule number three comes into play parents and friends should be aware of intentions.)

I know I made some mistakes when I was young and I was naive and they are behind me. The early years were an awkward and sometimes painful time.

By keeping the line of communications open we grow together more than apart.

I am one of the blessed ones, I found a good wife. She and I have been legally and faithfully married to each other for nearly two decades I hve been blessed by her and we have been blessed beyond measure with good friends. (Her friends are my friends and my friends are her's.)

I have added a fourth rule since I've been married, 4) Don’t ever look at anyone to want them the way you look at and want your wife. (And too quote the night shirt I once saw, “looking is free but touching will cost you.”)

A kiss on the cheek in public or a good hug can be a good thing as it says, I know you and I love you. I can not kiss anyone on the mouth unless that person is my wife. Her and I feel the same way about this.

I find it unbelievable that a church will back something that the bible specifically condemns.
It makes me wonder what they do when they read that part of the bible.

A few years ago, I had two gay neighbors & they got up every Sunday morning just like I did, and went to church.
Was I happy that they were seeking to study the word & worship God, you better believe it! But was I confused? Absolutely!
"What church would accept this lifestyle?" I asked myself over & over.
Then, I read headlines like the one at the beginning of this blog & I get my answer.
What's next? Will they go to the next sin in the list of those "who will not inherit eternal life" and say "oh yeah...we accept that too"

Galations 5:19-21:
"19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties,
21 envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

So based on the decision that church made, they'll probably look at the list in Galations 5 and say "oh, what sin are we going to start allowing this year? Is anybody opposed to witchcraft? I see no hands, ok then...as of today, we will allow all Christians to practice witchcraft & we'll say that God is ok with that."

Makes me wonder what kind of world my grandchildren will grow up in.
